Got up this morning at 6:15am. Late for a fishing trip, but let’s face it, it’s December 30th and I’m going after carp on Lake Michigan. I’d heard word that the water was cold and the generating station that pumps out the water wasn’t heating it lately. I guess I hoped today would be special. It wasn’t.
The weather held steadily in the low 40s with a light wind. Better than the forecast of low 40s, rain, and winds up to 25mph. Fishing right on the lake during that crap makes for some fun casting and sand blasted eyeballs. On the other hand when it’s that windy your roll cast will make you look like one of those professional distance casters, which is cool if you’re into that sort of thing. It rained on and off, the seagulls attacked parts of my sandwich that I was throwing in the water, and some weird ducks were doing some synchronized diving that would shame Olympic swimmers.
If you’re wondering where the shots of the carp are, I hate to disappoint. It was after all, December in Indiana.
Avett Bros soundtrack?! Glad you’re still getting out!
Love me some Avett Brothers. Hope you got the stickers.
Sorry to hear you didn’t get rewarded with a 30″ carp – in many ways I am glad I didn’t join you and Jeremy. Babied my cold and put a sticker on my car! Looks like the spring is the time to hook up one of those beauties.
