On Saturday I drove down to Indianapolis to kick it at FlyMasters of Indianapolis for their 3rd Annual Crawdad Roundup. Cecil from Warmwater Chronicles cooked up some mean crawfish. Cecil is from Louisiana so this shit was 100% legit. We gorged ourselves on crawfish, fresh sausage, potatoes, and corn on the cob with some summer beer to wash it all down. The turnout was pretty decent, I think everyone had seconds and thirds.

It was awesome to finally meet Cecil, Junior, and Rex. I realized Rex has no tastebuds because he went straight beastmode on some cayenne pepper and even that wasn’t hot enough for him. The Heeg cut his ear open with a crawdad claw. That’s when you knew it was a party.

After we ate, Ian Anderson taught a big group of people how to tie a crawfish pattern. I missed getting shots of that, but it looked like those folks got some nice bugs tied up. I shot home around 4 or 5 and my friend Ashley got out on a creek (see below post). It was a damned good day to be a fly fisherman in Indiana. If you’re in central Indiana next July, the Crawdad Roundup is something you don’t wanna miss.
