Got out on the river with a friend for some smallmouth bass. Many lips were made sore by poppers popping. Retrieving an ugly popper in the tree for my buddy, my trolling motor took its last hit of thousands. It sounded like it was coming apart from the inside. The next morning I stripped it off the boat and started surgery. Sure enough, the two big magnets in the tube were shattered and the brushes were wrecked. $500 later and a nice Minn Kota technician chat later and I have parts on the way. Sadly I’m on vacation next week and had some low key musky fishing planned which is now postponed. Tomorrow we’re on the water for a long late afternoon and dusk float for pikes and smallies. Fingers crossed for some toothy critter love.
