We spent a lot of time casting. Those are the breaks in this game.
This lake has gotten quite a bit darker in the past few weeks as the weeds die off. Less than a foot of visibility now.
Lack of rain all summer. Hot temperatures. Run off from lawns. It’s the perfect recipe for a crap sandwich for the fish and the fisherman.
Dying weeds consume a ton of oxygen. Fish need oxygen. Two plus three equals chair and the fish didn’t want to play our reindeer games.
Thankfully, there’s always a silver lining if you’re willing and able to look for it. I was able to share my boat with a rad dude for the day. Making a new friend and suffering alongside him as you make those ten thousand casts for a toothy fish that’s sleeping on the bottom of a lake is always worth it in my book.
