If you want to be a guest on Music Mondays, use the contact page and send me an email with 3 songs you want people to hear and a short description of them and I’ll post them up.

I am humbled to be a part of Music Mondays. I have been part of the hardcore scene since about ’96. Not to sound cliche’ but I was a directionless 16 year old kid with an eager mind and a BMX bike and that was my world, that world got thrown upside down with the introduction of hardcore music and a different way of thinking, a different direction, a new ethic. I began my journey with really political bands and messages and it turned into so much. Its still a large part of who I am, and who I will always be. The moment when you get chills and cant help but smile at what you hear and or see live thats when I know I’m home.

The first band Im listing and this is in no sort of order however I’m going with a bit more easy listening side of what hardcore is for a second. I first heard this song on a BMX video and ran out and bought the CD and was blown away. Farside was a California band that brought a lot to the table and wasnt the typical “hardcore” band in the late 90s however this song comes with a lot of influence for me.

Second we have Texas is the Reason. An amazing band from New York. This band was a staple for me in the late 90s. They have been coined as “post hardcore” or “emo” but I didnt pay attention to the genre’ stereotypes. It was just good! I actually still have this out of print 7″(image in video) displayed in my bedroom.

Lastly. This band didnt reach out and grab me until early 2008 however when they did the fire they set inside me was astounding. Have Heart was an amazing hardcore band from Boston. I have never been so moved by a band in my life. They have brought out so much emotion in me and this song…this song is by far the most moving song I have ever experienced whether it be live or sitting at my desk doing photography edits. just amazing!
