The river was high and dirty. Flows were pushing close to one thousand cubic feet per second with a consistent drop over the last week with visibility between six inches to a foot throughout the day.
Now, I like this river with high water but dirty high water can sometimes be a challenge. Still it’s better than the two hundred cfs you normally see in August. Visibility at that point is gin clear and the fish are spooky even with hero casts and fifteen foot leaders.
So I’ll take some dirt water and upsize the streamers or fish big poppers.
