Out of step

Stressed to high hell? Check fucking mate.

It’s high summer in the IND. I just walked out for lunch and it’s 90 degrees with 235% humidity. Lots of plans got flipped this summer. I bought a house. We close this week. My week long fishing dreams will soon be spent ripping out wallpaper and painting. The good thing is the house is 40 years old but it was meticulously maintained. I don’t have a lot to do after painting. Besides normal maintenance and yard work, I’ll be back to the water. Speaking of water, my new house is less than 2 miles from a great canoe/kayak launch on my favorite creek…

I never thought I’d be in the ranks of homeowners leashed to a mortgage. I fought against it for so long but paying rent for something that will never be yours is not fun.

Storage for fishing gear? Check
Storage for boat(s)? Check
My own dedicated fly tying room? Check
Fireplace? Check
Fire pit outside with tall trees all around? Check

I’m digging the fire pit out after I finish painting. Lining it with fire brick, building the wall, and making it my spot to sit with whiskey on a Friday night..

  1. Lucky bastard. Maybe when I move back to Ohio/WV I’ll have a house with all the luxuries you have. California is a great place to be, not so great to settle.

    1. Yea, we got lucky here. I couldn’t live in Cali. I always wanted to just to skate there but all them people would be the death of me

  2. Hey Dude. Congrats! I’m renting again now after owning my first house for 5 years. Renting sucks and the pride of ownership cant be matched. Cant wait to buy my next house once I move back to Michiana area (hopefully sooner than later!).

That fire pit will be nice.

  3. One of my go to albums for Fall blitzes and when I need to churn out ALOT of say clousers…wife not so much(nor quite a few of my fishin’ buddies). Too much shitty country in SC.

    Congrats on the house…

    1. Thanks dude! It is one of the best albums I’ve ever owned. I got it in 1986. I was 7 years old jamming this out hard. All these years later it’s still amazing.

  4. Nice digs. Congratulations! I would say in the end you got the check mate. I would be sipping my Cragganmore 12yr on any night next to that fire pit, not just Fridays.
